The Qingdao Yiheshun Heavy Industrial Steel Factory is a large span steel structure factory building designed for heavy-duty industrial manufacturing. Located in Pingdu, Qingdao, the project occupies approximately 46 mu and is planned as a high-standard industrial base with strong load capacity and flexible space organization.

The factory adopts advanced structural steel framing systems combined with structural steel frame construction, making it suitable for heavy machinery installation, overhead crane systems, and long-term high-intensity industrial operation. The large span layout significantly reduces interior columns, maximizing usable production space and improving logistics efficiency within the workshop.

The roof structure is engineered with structural steel roof framing and reinforced metal stud roof framing, providing excellent structural stability, wind resistance, and durability under heavy industrial conditions. Qingdao Yiheshun Electric Co., Ltd., a rapidly expanding electrical appliance manufacturer, initiated the construction of a new high-standard, large-span production workshop to meet growing production demands and modernize its manufacturing processes. Covering 46 acres, the project broke ground in October 2020. The primary objectives were to maximize interior space, ensure efficient construction timelines, and guarantee long-term operational economy and flexibility, all while maintaining absolute structural safety and reliability.


Project-Specific Challenges

While no exceptional geological constraints were present, the workshop, destined for electrical appliance production, imposed high requirements for interior cleanliness, space utilization, and future adaptability for production line reconfiguration. Traditional concrete structures struggled to achieve such large, column-free spans within a comparable timeframe and offered limited flexibility for future modifications. Therefore, selecting a structural steel framing system that enabled rapid construction while providing long-term adaptability became crucial.

A customized, holistic structural steel frame construction solution was deployed. The core of this solution leveraged the superior properties of high-strength steel to design and prefabricate a complete structural steel framing system. Its innovative structural steel roof framing design achieved a column-free span exceeding 30 meters while allocating ample space for rooftop piping and maintenance. Supplementary areas utilized metal stud roof framing to optimally balance cost and performance. The entire system, prefabricated off-site and efficiently assembled on-site, ensured the rapid completion and high-quality delivery of Workshop No. 4.
