Xinguangzheng Participates in Construction | Assisting in the Development of China's First 10,000 MW Offshore Solar Project
Recent reports from CCTV News highlight that China's first million-kilowatt-level offshore photovoltaic project—the Kenli 1,000 MW Offshore Solar Project—has successfully connected its first batch of power generation units to the grid.
Located 8 kilometers offshore from Dongying, Shandong Province, a shimmering silver matrix composed of hundreds of photovoltaic platforms sways with the tides. As the largest offshore solar project in open waters nationwide, it covers a marine area of 12.23 square kilometers and pioneers the use of 66 kV submarine and land cables for long-distance power transmission. This "steel island" standing in the sea was constructed with the participation of Xinguangzheng.
Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate 1.78 billion kWh of clean electricity annually, equivalent to providing stable power for over 2.4 million urban households year-round. In terms of energy transition, the project will replace approximately 500,000 tons of coal consumption each year while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by over 1.34 million tons—comparable to adding 7,500 hectares of carbon-absorbing forests around urban areas. This initiative holds significant practical value for advancing regional energy structure optimization and ecological environment improvement.
Unlike terrestrial solar projects, offshore photovoltaics demand extreme precision and stability in support structures due to harsh marine conditions. Additionally, the high salinity of seawater poses severe corrosion risks to metal components, requiring advanced surface anti-corrosion treatments. Xinguangzheng's production team employed multi-layer protective processes to ensure the project’s stable operation in this challenging environment.
During the production of the supporting steel frames for this offshore solar project, Xinguangzheng utilized intelligent production lines. From material cutting and assembly to welding, polishing, and painting, advanced smart equipment ensured high precision, efficiency, and compatibility, guaranteeing the project’s timely completion.
